F. Douglas Scutchfield, M.D., was the initial incumbent in the Peter P. Bosomworth Professorship in Health Services Research and Policy at the University of Kentucky. He held faculty appointments in the College of Public Health and the College of Medicine, where he is now Emeritus. He currently serves as Faculty Fellow in the Lewis Honors College at the University of Kentucky. He received his M.D. from the University of Kentucky. ‘Scutch’ first heard opera as a high school student in Hazard, Kentucky when a private vocal teacher had her students perform. He serves on the OperaLex Board because he believes the arts are vital to education and to life.
