The Alltech Competition awards prizes to both undergraduate and graduate vocal music students.  The 1st and 2nd place graduate-level winners receive full Graduate Assistantships to the University of Kentucky plus a Stipend, and the 1st and 2nd place undergraduate winners receive full tuition waivers from the University of Kentucky plus a cash stipend.

Awards sponsors include Bryant’s Rent-All, a family-owned business serving Central Kentucky’s special events and equipment needs since 1953;  Bryant’s is the sponsor of the Second Prize Undergraduate award.

*ELIGIBILITY:    The competition for the Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition is open to all new voice students in all vocal categories who plan on attending the University of Kentucky in the immediately following academic year.   All students participating in the competition must have made an application to the university by the time of the audition and must be acceptable for admission to the University of Kentucky.  The student competitors must be enrolled as full-time students at UK during the following academic year to receive the awards.

The UK School of Music admissions audition serves also as the preliminary audition screening for the Alltech Competition. Preliminary auditions will be held during regular School of Music auditions.  The judges for the Competition are selected from a panel of outside professionals in the field.

Winners may only receive prize money once. Prize money will be distributed incrementally for the duration of student’s matriculation as long as student meets academic requirements and graduate in required number of years according to the specific degree requirements.

The 2024 competition date will be Sunday, March 3rd at 2:00 PM at the Singletary Center for the Arts. It is free and open to the public!
